Crossing the Bridge

a cyber-ritual for Kicker the dog
by Jim, adapted from Ray Buckland

I am writing this through a veil of tears and with a grief-stricken heart. Kicker suffered a stroke last night and had lost most function of her hind legs and partial control of her bladder. She had a preexisting paralyzed larynx that inhibited her breathing. I had her euthanized at 11:20 p. m., Wednesday February 21, 2001.

READ/HEAR: The flute is played for Kicker. (A long, single, low vibrato note is played)

SAY/THINK: So be it.

READ/HEAR: That today Kicker is not with us, here on this earthly plane, saddens us all. Yet let us not give in to sadness. For is this not a sign that she has fulfilled her life's work? Now she is free to move, free to cross the river Styx and await the thinness of the veils at Samhain. Fear this not, for we shall meet again, as surely as the moon cycles and the tides change. And that will be a time devoted to great joy and celebration. Let us send forth our good wishes to precede her across the bridge.

THINK: From your third eye see a Loving black lab looking at you from your monitor. Reach into your being and draw up your Love, joy, happiness & magick and release it through your eyes into the image your third eye sees on the screen.

READ/HEAR: We wish you all the Love and happiness we may. You shall never be forgotten. In kind, let us not be forgotten. Whenever we meet in ritual, you are always welcome.

SAY/THINK: So mote it be.
